State reps support illegal immigration bill

 

All three of Schuylkill County's state representatives have co-sponsored a bill to give state and local law enforcement more authority to enforce federal immigration laws."Pennsylvania's a sovereign state, and we have a right, as does the federal government, to know who is living withinour borders," state Rep. Neal Goodman, D-123, said in a telephone interview Tuesday.Goodman, along with state Reps. Jerry Knowles, R-124, >and Tim Seip, D-125, have put their names on House Bill 2479, also known as the Support Our Law Enforcement >and Safe Neighborhoods Act.The bill, introduced Tuesday by state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-12, Butler County, is modeled after a similar bill recently signed into law in Arizona.

Goodman, Seip back bills to prevent illegal immigrants from working on construction and public work projects

 

HARRISBURG, June 8 -- State Reps. Neal Goodman and Tim Seip voted for two bills passed by the House of Representatives today that are aimed at preventing illegal immigrants from working on Pennsylvania construction sites. House Bill 1502 would require public work contractors and their subcontractors to verify employees' Social Security numbers before they can be awarded a public work contract. House Bill 1503 would require construction industry employers to verify their employees' Social Security numbers.
